Overview
The Musee de l'Orangerie is a small, intimate museum in the Tuileries Garden best known for Monet's eight Water Lilies murals displayed in two oval rooms on the upper level. The lower level houses the Walter-Guillaume collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist art. The museum is fully accessible with step-free access, an elevator between floors, and wheelchairs available for loan.
Getting There
- Metro: Concorde (Lines 1, 8, 12). Line 1 platform is accessible at Concorde. Follow signs to the Tuileries Garden exit.
- Bus: Routes 24, 42, 52, 72, 73, 84, 94. All Paris buses have ramps.
- The museum is at the western end of the Tuileries Garden, next to Place de la Concorde. The entrance is on the garden side. There is a short paved ramp to the main entrance.
- If coming from the Louvre, it is about a 15-minute walk along the paved central path of the Tuileries Garden.
Wheelchair Accessibility

- One elevator connects the upper level (Water Lilies) and the lower level (Walter-Guillaume collection).
- All galleries are wide and easy to navigate. The oval Water Lilies rooms are spacious with curved benches around the edges.
- Wheelchairs available for loan at the entrance desk. No deposit required.
- The museum is small (plan 1 to 2 hours), which makes it manageable for visitors with limited stamina.
This is an excellent museum for visitors who find large museums like the Louvre overwhelming. It is small, calm, and easy to navigate. The Water Lilies rooms are among the most peaceful spaces in any Paris museum.

Accessible toilets are located on the lower level near the exhibition entrance. They are spacious with grab bars and meet French accessibility standards.
